U.S. employers offer four types of telework, according to a new WorldatWork study. The nonprofit’s Survey on Workplace Flexibility found that:

  • 83% of employers allow ad hoc telework, so employees can stay home to care for a sick child or meet a repair person.
  • 58% offer telework on a regular monthly basis—for example, particular days of working at home each every month.
  • 57% provide a weekly telework option, when employees work from home on specific days, but otherwise must come in.
  • 37% offer full-time telework, in which employees work at home every day.

Note: Many employers offer more than one kind of telework program at a time.
